Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Policy

The Reserve Group is committed to provide and maintain, so far as reasonable and practicable, a workplace and work environment that is safe and without risk to health, and is responsible for, the health, safety and welfare of all employees.

Scope
This policy and associated policies and procedures apply to all employees of the Reserve Group.

Commitments As a part of our overall Safety Management System, The Reserve Group is committed to:
  • Establishing measurable objectives and targets to ensure continued improvement aimed at eliminating work-related injury and illness
  • Complying with relevant OHSW legislation, codes of practice, standards and guidelines applicable to the organization's own core visions and mission statements.
  • Documenting, implementing and communicating the safety management system to all employees and providing adequate resources to ensure the Safety Management System is maintained.
  • Making our OHSW Policy available to interested parties; and
  • Periodically review our entire Safety Management System, including the OHSW Policy as part of our continuous improvement approach, to ensure it remains relevant and appropriate given the nature of our business;
  • Where applicable, external service providers will be engaged to assist the organization to achieve its OHSW objectives.
  • Proactively identify and manage hazards in the workplace;
  • Maintain a commitment to effective rehabilitation of injured workers;
  • Ensure the claims management process is equitable to all parties;
Objectives
The overall objectives of our Safety Management System are;
  • Minimise the potential for work related injuries an illness;
  • To provide effective and meaningful consultation to employees regarding issues that may affect their health ,safety and welfare;
  • To implement an OHSW risk management program to identify, assess and control all risks to the health, safety and welfare of all people affected by the undertakings of our business; and
  • To provide all employees with adequate OHSW systems, information, training, instruction and supervision to ensure work is conducted in the safest possible manner.
Responsibilities

Safety and Training Manager
The promotion and maintenance of OHSW, risk and hazard management is primarily the responsibility of the Safety and Training Manager. To this end, it is the Safety and Training Managers responsibility to develop, implement and keep under review, in consultation with employees, the organizations Safety Management System.

Managers
Each Manager is required to ensure that the intent and requirements of the OHSW Policy and Safety Management Systems are effectively met and implemented in their areas of control, and to support any subordinates and hold them accountable for their specific responsibilities.

Employees
All employees are required to cooperate with the OHSW Policy and systems to ensure their own health and safety and the health and safety of others in the workplace.

This policy will be reviewed bi-annually or at the change of any work practices, objectives, targets, or legislation.


Environmental Policy

The Reserve Group recognizes environmental management as among its highest priorities and as a key determinant to sustainable development.

Responsibilities
This policy and associated policies and procedures apply to all employees of the Reserve Group.

Objectives
  • To ensure that environmental safeguards are established and maintained.
  • To establish, maintain and continue to improve policies, programs and environmental performance, taking into account technical developments, scientific understanding, consumer needs and community expectations, with legal regulations and codes of practice as a starting point.
  • Operating within the intentions of the relevant sites.
Commitments
Reserve Group is committed to undertaking and completing projects using every practical effort available to minimize adverse environmental impacts, whilst maintaining a high standard of quality.

The company makes a commitment to:
  • Assess environmental impacts before starting a project, and advising the client of any undue environmental impacts, environmentally unsound designs and inefficiencies in the consumption of energy and resources, in order to minimize the adverse environmental impacts and waste generation.
  • Promote the adoption of these principles by sub-contractors, encouraging and, where appropriate requiring improvements in their practices to make them consistent with the company, and to encourage the wider adoption of these principles by suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain where significant hazards exist, emergency preparedness plans in conjunction with the emergency services, relevant authorities and the local community.
  • Measure environmental performance; to conduct regular environmental audits and assessments of compliance with company requirements, legal requirements and these principles.

Discrimination and Harassment Policy

PURPOSE OF POLICY
The Reserve Group has a legal obligation and moral responsibility to ensure that staff, contractors and visitors are not subject to behaviours, practices or processes that may constitute discrimination or harassment. Relevant legislation includes the Queensland Anti-Discrimination Act, the Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Act, Commonwealth Age Discrimination Act, Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act and the Commonwealth Racial Discrimination Act.

APPLICATION OF POLICY
This policy applies to all Reserve Group staff, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, Contractors and Visitors. POLICY
The Reserve Group is committed to fostering the right of individuals to be free from discrimination and harassment while engaged in activities undertaken as part of their employment.

All employees of the Reserve Group are to be treated with dignity, courtesy and respect in accordance with the Reserve Group codes of conduct. Discrimination and harassment will not be tolerated under any circumstance and the Reserve Group will take all steps to eliminate discrimination and harassment by any staff, contractors and visitors.

The company will educate all persons for prevention of discrimination and harassment, ensuring all staff know their rights and responsibilities, and to encourage the reporting of behaviour that breaches this policy.

Should a complaint of alleged harassment or discrimination arise, the company will:
  • In the case of a staff member, contractor or visitor making an allegation, progress the matter according to the Staff Discrimination and Harassment Complaints Procedures.
  • The Reserve Group will sensitively facilitate timely and appropriate action through appropriate formal and/or informal conciliatory procedural options.


WORKPLACE REHABILITATION POLICY

The Reserve Group recognises that there are substantial benefits to be gained from rehabilitation principles and practices and is committed to implementing them at this workplace. We recognise that the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Regulation 2003 provide the legislative support for workplace rehabilitation activities.

Experience has shown that workplace rehabilitation assists the healing process and helps restore the worker’s normal function sooner. Workplace rehabilitation includes early provision of timely and adequate services, including suitable duties programs, and aims to:

  • maintain injured or ill workers at work or;
  • ensure the worker’s earliest possible return to work or;
  • maximise the worker’s independent functioning and;
  • provide for durable employment.
This policy has been developed as a joint worker-management agreement.

The Reserve Group is committed to:

  • Providing a safe and healthy work environment, but in the event of an injury or an illness, ensuring workplace rehabilitation is started as soon as possible in accordance with medical advice.
  • Ensuring appropriate suitable duties are made available to injured or ill workers to facilitate their safe and early return to work. These duties must be consistent with the current medical certificate and will be time limited.
  • Respecting the confidential nature of medical and rehabilitation information and ensuring there will be both verbal and written confidentiality.
  • Ensuring all workers are aware that, in the event of injury or illness, they will be consulted to ensure a structured and safe return to work that will not disadvantage them.
  • Complying with legislative obligations with respect to the standard for rehabilitation.
  • Adopting a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation as required.
  • Reviewing this policy and procedures at least every three years to ensure it continues to meet legislative requirements and the needs of all parties.
Workplace rehabilitation procedures have been developed to support this policy. The procedures define key terms, describe key roles and outline steps in the return to work process. A copy of the procedures is attached to this policy.
